NASH Standard - Amendment B

NASH Standard: Residential and Low-Rise Steel Framing Part 1 - Design Criteria 2005

A public Review Draft for Amendment B to the NASH Standard Residential and Low-rise Buildings Part 1 Design Criteria.

 The amendment covers two items:

·         Removal of the old loading Standards AS1170 Part 1-4 (1989+) and referencing the new earthquake standard

·         Introduction of a new appendix (Appendix F - normative) to cover service holes in steel framing

The NASH Standard currently references both the new loading standards (2002) as well as the old loading standards (1989+).  However all the values in the NASH Standard Part 1 comply with the new loading standards.

BCA2009, which has just been released, only references the new loading standards and this amendment brings the NASH Standard in line with the BCA.

Companies who are still referencing the old loading standards in their documentation should review these references and update appropriately.

The new Appendix F clarifies some issues surrounding flared and grommeted holes for services.
